The MotoRiders Club in Eastern Crete. After we visited the prefectures of Chania and Rethymnon we decided to visit also Heraklion and Lasithi. As the locals told us the Eastern side of the island has less vegetation, but is equally beautiful. Our base was the village Gouves, a coastal village with in tensed marks of the tourist influence. It could not be otherwise as the village is located very close to Malia and Hersonissos which are worldwide known for the tourism and "frantic" nightly life!!!
We decided to follow the south-eastern way. Our first stop was at famous Hersonissos for coffee. One of the most tourist parts of Crete. Big and luxurious hotels, tourist shops, bars and cafeterias, full of motion, give particular life in the village. The night life is intense which of course we did not omit to see… We, unconditionally, suggest the night life of Hersonissos and Malia, if of course you bear the big emotions....!!
Next stop was Elounda. It is one of the most famous tourist centres in Greece, with the most modern tourist installations. A flashy city that combines cosmopolitan atmosphere with the picturesqueness of landscape. From Elounda you can organise daily excursions with caiques for the skerry of Spinaloga, which unfortunately we did not visit due to time’s pressure… We enjoyed the splendid landscape and the sea with the small islets that compose one of the most beautiful pictures of Crete and we continued with destination Ierapetra, at the southern side of the island.
Ierapetra is the most southern region of Greece. It constitutes one of the most beautiful regions of Crete with amazing beaches and ideal climate for holiday of winter or summertime (… according to the locals). Ierapetra has rich history that is proved by the various monuments that are saved up to our days. From the port leave daily many small boats for the much known islet of Chrysi (Golden) or Gaidouronisi, which is a destination you should not miss!!!
Our last stop for swimming and food, before we take the road of return, was Agia Fotia. An amazing beach close to Ierapetra. If you find yourselves in the region you will enjoy the splendid crystal and clean sea.
